BEFORE & AFTER

Q: What was the customer’s motivation to undertake the project?
A: The customer wanted to make the redesign the space with a more contemporary feel and have cabinetry best suited to their needs.
The customer engaged us the year prior to remodel their kitchen. They loved the design, its functionality and quality so much they asked us to wave our magic wand once more.
Q: What were the challenges encountered during the project’s execution?
A: The project management was more involved in this case. The customer contracted a tiler to take care of the flooring and redesign the shower. This meant coordinating with a separate contractor to ensure all pieces of the puzzle worked together. This is a typical example of why some remodelers prefer working within the kitchen space. We excel at coordination and following up, so it doesn’t really matter if we project-manage a kitchen, a bathroom or an outdoor kitchen. Effective and consistent communication is the key.
Q: What would you recommend customers do in a similar remodeling project?
A: Choose a design company with a General Contractor, subcontracting crews for as many aspects of the project as possible: cabinetry design, surfaces fabrication and installation, fixtures, tiling. The result is more seamless coordination, and the designer can best support customers with the materials selection process, at the concept and design stage. It also means a quicker fulfillment period, as the Project Manager can schedule more effectively the resources.
Q: What were the high points of the project, for you?
A: I absolutely loved managing this project. The customers have remodeled several homes over time. They have exquisite taste, and they know what they want. Many people would shy away from wallpaper being installed in a bathroom; their bold choice paid off. In place of a white or off-white cabinet, and white countertop, they opted for a saddle brown wood and concrete look for their surfaces. A perfect contrast and at the 4 same time harmonious choice to accentuate the blue-grey tiles they selected for their floor and shower space. Brainstorming the finishing touches was the highlight for me.
